New undergraduate programs in emerging and interdisciplinary areas have been introduced by various IITs giving their EE Advanced qualifiers more options for admission in 2026.

What new programs are available for EE Advanced Qualifiers?

IIT Madras has introduced B.Tech in Computational Engineering and Mechanics along with B.Tech in Instrumentation and Biomedical Engineering primarily in the field of digital engineering and biomedical devices. IIT Delhi will provide a 4 year-long B.Tech in Design: Problem Solving in Engineering Design for students who love a problem.

The B Tech programs in Electronics and Communication at IIT Kanpur and IIT Roorkee are also starting. With Tech in Design, the course at IIT, Roorkee requires UCEED clearance along with JEE Advanced. IIT Hyderabad has added B.Tech in Industrial Chemistry and brings its product to the portfolio.

Three new B.At IISc Bengaluru, three new B.Aerospace Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering and Mechanics and Computing are some of the Tech programmes available in 2026 based on JEE Advanced scores.

These courses are relevant to the modern industry requirements and integrate engineering principles and advanced topics such as AI, biomedical technology, computational techniques and design thinking. The B.Tech in Design curricula are designed to engage students who are interested in addressing real world socio-technical problems in innovative ways.

How to Apply for These Programs:

Admission to all new programs will be based on JEE Advanced 2026 and JoSAA counselling process. The qualification of UCEED is required in some programs such as the Design course at IIT Roorkee. While the conventional streams like Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering still have strong interest, these are very flexible options for those who wish to explore futuristic engineering streams in lieu of core engineering.

The expansion translates to options for IIT aspirants to connect their career aspirations with new technology industries and still get the prestige of an IIT degree.
