Maharashtra School Holiday: The Maharashtra state government has announced a three-day mourning period following the tragic demise of Deputy CM Ajit Pawar on January 28, 2026. The Deputy CM passed away in a tragic plane crash near Baramati, following which the state government has announced a mourning period of three days. All government, government-aided, private schools, colleges and other institutions in the state will remain closed until January 30, 2026. According to the official notification issued by the state, as a mark of respect to the departed dignitary, state mourning shall be observed throughout the state of Maharashtra for three days.

Mumbai University Exams Rescheduled
Mumbai University has rescheduled the exams scheduled to be held on January 28, 2026, amidst the tragic passing of the Deputy CM. According to the official notification shared by the university, all examinations to be held on January 28, 2026, have been rescheduled. The revised dates for the exams will be notified later. As per the notification released, allprincipals of all affiliated colleges in Commerce and Management, Arts and Education, the Director Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE) is hereby informed that today's afternoon examination is rescheduled due to the sad Demise of Shri Ajit Ashatai Anantrao Pawar, Honourable Deputy CM, Government of Maharashtra, on Wednesday, January 28, 2026. The revised dates will be announced later.
